Prospect Watch: After falling behind 5-0 in the third inning, El Paso put up five runs in the fourth, then used a seven-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach and put themselves in position to split the final series of the year. … The OKC Comets are a loaded team headed to the PCL Championship series, while El Paso will finish the year in the cellar. Saturday, though they jumped Cole Irvin, who came into the game leading the PCL in wins and ERA for six runs in 3.2 innings, and beat a lineup that featured Mike Sirota, #14 on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospect list, and James Tibbs, who has 30 home runs on the year. … Mason McCoy, one of seven Chihuahuas to record a multi-hit game, stole his 40th base and is now two away from Tim Lopes‘ franchise record. Per team announcer Tim Hagerty, Lopes became a police officer in Southern California after his retirement. … Nick Pratto had another big night, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. He has a stellar .413/.473/.613 line in 74 September plate appearances. … Miguel Andujar, making his fourth start in left field, had a pair of hits and his drew his first walk in the ninth game of his rehab assignment. He is 11-for-36 with five doubles as he works to rejoin the big league club. … Marcos Castañon reached base twice Saturday and will finish among the team leaders in several offensive categories. While he played most of his games at second base, he also saw plenty of action at first and third. … Rosman Verdugo, 21, who was summoned to bolster the roster after spending the year in Fort Wayne, has had a nice week for El Paso. With a two-hit night, he heads into the finale 6-for-19. … Just 11 days after signing a minor league deal, Trevor Gott was placed on the injured list to end his season. The 34-year-old, originally drafted by the Padres in 2013, had been looking for another opportunity after the Nationals released him from Triple-A in early July.
